We provided energy and thermal performance consultancy for a 52-apartment senior living development, comprising single-room apartments designed to provide comfortable, efficient and well-considered accommodation for residents.

As part of the project, we carried out Preliminary BER assessments for all apartments, helping to evaluate the proposed energy performance of the development and inform the design team on opportunities to improve overall efficiency.

Given the importance of thermal comfort within senior living environments, we also undertook a comprehensive overheating assessment in accordance with CIBSE TM59 for each apartment. The assessment considered the risk of overheating under summer conditions, supporting the design of appropriate measures to maintain comfortable internal temperatures while balancing energy performance and ventilation requirements.

Our work provided the project team with valuable insight into the building’s energy and thermal performance, helping to deliver a development that prioritises energy efficiency, occupant comfort and long-term wellbeing.
