A Building Energy Rating tells you how much energy your property needs to heat, ventilate and light it, on a scale from A1 to G. It is a legal requirement when a property is sold or rented in Ireland, and it is the starting point for any serious retrofit decision.
Renaissance Energy has been carrying out energy assessments since 2007. Our assessors are SEAI registered, we survey the building ourselves rather than working from drawings alone, and every certificate is accompanied by a plain-English explanation of what is holding the rating back.

How much does a BER assessment cost in Ireland?
Our BER assessments start from €200. The final fee depends on the size and type of the property — a standard three-bedroom home sits at the lower end, while commercial and multi-unit buildings are quoted individually.
How long does a BER assessment take?
The on-site survey usually takes one to two hours. The certificate is typically issued two to three days later, once the DEAP calculation has been completed and reviewed.
How long is a BER certificate valid for?
A BER certificate is valid for ten years, provided no material changes are made to the building. If you carry out significant upgrades, a new assessment will reflect the improved rating.
Do I legally need a BER certificate?
Yes. In Ireland a valid BER certificate is required before a property is offered for sale or rent, and the rating must be included in the advertisement.
What is DEAP?
DEAP — the Dwelling Energy Assessment Procedure — is the official methodology used to calculate the energy rating of Irish homes. Our assessors carry out the DEAP calculation from measured survey data rather than assumptions.
